We had the Bun Xeo Vietnam crepe with pork, shrimp, sprouts scallions with special dipping sauce and were surprised when it arrived and was one big crepe deep fried. But, it was delicious...the crepe was actually light and not too greasy. The veggies, shrimp, pork were delicious and when dipped in the special sauce was very good. I had the shrimp teriyaki which was very good although the veggies were a bit overdone for my taste. It came with salad (very fresh) and white rice which was good and sticky. My wife had the pork red curry and was quite pleased with it. Overall a good experience but the staff had a bit of an indifferent attitude although our waiter did a good job. Not a lot of ambiance but good food. The bar area was pretty cool but hard to hear with the music they had going. Lastly, the men's room could have used a touch up.

Gorgeous restaurant, clean interior. Sushi bar with nonobtrusive quiet flat screen tv in the corner. Amazing sushi chefs! I tried the Volcano roll and eel and tuna sushi and found it to be awesome. Wonderful fresh taste and beautiful presentation. The menu is huge. It would probably take 20 minutes or longer just to read it all. There are pages of Japanese and Sushi items, pages of Thai items, a short page on Vietnamese items. The first time I tried some Vietnamese Beef Pho (noodle soup) and thought it was pretty good along with some very good sushi. The latest trip I tried a sea bass with green curry and more sushi and thought both items were excellent. The staff is very attentive and the owner/manager is ever present if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I still haven't tried the alcohol alcohol bar/lounge with the leather chairs next door. It will take me a year to try all the menu items, but I'm looking forward to trying. They have a website at katainvero.com but many of the pages and menu appear to be not working or out-of-date (unusual since its just opened in the last year)

This is a place where the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" can be applied. The outside surrounding is plain, but the interior design is welcoming and comfortable. This is yet another Thai/Viet/Japanese restaurant. Food portions are not too big and not too small. It's just right for the Asian stomach. Also, if you come here within the next 7 days and bring in your receipt, you get a 10% off your meal (at least that's what it said on mine).

So far the best sushi restaurant I've been to in Vero. Been there several time and have really enjoyed both the sushi and the thai food. Oh, and the tempura cheesecake is soooooooo good. Worth every calorie!

Excellent service & excellent food! Some if the freshest sushi we've had in a long time! The house salad with Ginger dressing is pretty typical, except the dressing has a different sweet taste; very good. We recommend the rory roll and the spicy noodles with beef. Trendy atmosphere. A great find in Vero!

Wonderful Japanese restaurant, very clean, good service, great food. IF you happen to be going on a Friday or Saturday night you might want to call ahead. We arrived around 9, took our seats and were treated (or tortured) to a very loud, very bad, drunken rendition of "friends in low places" by the large private party in the lounge. Karaoke parties are NOT fun if you are trying to have a quiet romantic dinner in the next room! The worst part is the drunken "ladies" kept coming out and sitting at tables for some "air" causing the wait staff to run out to check if they wanted something. Love this place BUT Just call first!

Really good miso soup. I had the Beauty and the Beast roll for dinner which was great but I think I would special order it with cucumber instead of asparagus. But that's just me. I also had some nice and fresh salmon. The yellow tail was the only I ate that was average.

Very cute restaurant, decorated very nicely. The service was impeccable during lunch, even with my friend and her 8 month old daughter. We both had bento box lunches for $15.95 and it was more food than I could eat! All the fish was extremely fresh and the rolls were the perfect size. We'll definitely be going back!

I really like this place, at dinner time it can be busy but if you go early there are two benefits : no crowd and 2 for 1 drinks from 4:30 to 6:00! Good to know :) I have noticed that quite a few families bring the young children at this time. The service here is always great, the wait staff is always attentive. The Tom Yum soup and sushi are my fav. My only issue, not even a complaint is that the menu makes my head want to explode..too many options. It is like War and Peace. Some might say variety, I say when. The other is the bat decoration hanging outside since Halloween?? When they put the Xmas decorations up over the Halloween decoration we thought it was hysterical. Next time youre eating your sushi look out the window, bats and Xmas?

We stepped inside to find ourselves in the hip, cozy, lounge area that appears to have a full bar. We didn't stop for a drink cause we were ready to chow! We were seated right away by friendly staff. The dining area is very nicely decorated without being over the top. The dining area was VERY clean. I did not use the restroom or see the kitchen, but what we saw was spotless. The menu was a very extensive mix of Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese. They also have a sushi bar, but we all ended up ordering Thai, not planned, just the way it worked out. Service was excellent!!! Food was far superior to most Thai places. I was surprised since I usually don't have good luck with Asian Fusion. We don't live in the area, but can't wait to make a trip back so we can return. If you go to their website, don't pay attention to the decor. They must have recently remodeled and it is MUCH nicer now.

Great atmosphere and fresh flavorful food. The price is a bit more than I would spend on just any night of the week but we go at least once during a visit with my aunt. Love it!

Very good food and excellent service. My wife and I visit almost once a week and try various rolls and dinners. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive.

We decided to try a new place (to us) on Friday and my Fiance had seen this place on our drives around town. read the reviews and said it sounds good let's give it a try. The decor was nice and atmosphere was good until the whiny voiced chic decided to sing Karaoke!! I left with a headache!! Of course the food was good, it's basically the same Japanese menu at Sake, duh it's related in some way with Sake off of Indian River Blvd. The wait staff was excellent. food and atmosphere was good. Definately will go back

i am very satisfied with this restaurant, probably the best if you order the japanese food. i always order the bento box. the prices are reasonable and the service is pleasant. once i tried a duck dish (crispy duck) and i was very disappointed. the portions are small and i can't find anything crispy in that dish. i will go back again just for the bento box and the pad thai.

We went last night for the second time. My wife and I split appetizers. The Fried Calamari was prepared in a light tempora batter and was exceptional. The steamed Shumai was delicious, but there were only 4 dumplings. Could have used a couple more. I had the Vietnamese Pho with beef. The soup and noodles were delicious, but the pieces of beef were not thin enough and as a result, were sometimes chewy. My wife had the Mango Duck. The presentation was beautiful and the seasoning was delicious. Definitely will return soon.

Great sushi in Vero ... but not better than Wasabi in Sebastian! The bentos are a great value for dinner (~$22 for a ton of food), but sushi is a bit pricey. Service was great, and they were very accommodating (our party had two babies). We'll definitely be back!

I received a gift card from habitat for humanity Indian River for Kata - $75. When I went to use it they claimed that their machine wasn't working, and we paid another way. I went back to use the card, and they came back to me stating that it had a zero balance. They clearly skimmed it the first time I was there. I'm glad that I checked before ordering the second time I was there. This is very bad business, very unethical, and I will never go there again. I recommend to everyone I know to not bring their business to Kata. Bad Business practice. I'll go somewhere with integrity all day long.

This is the best asian food restaurant in Vero Beach the decor service is a one The food is very good And considering your in Florida I would have to rate it excellent . The lunch menu is a bargain the dinner pricing is moderate They also have a store on Royal Palm with the same quality .

Great thai food and sushi. The rolls are very good, they have a wide variety. The sushi box for lunch ($10.99) is a good choice, and for dessert the ice cream tempura is amazing... But it is definitely for two! The place has a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

I came to Kata last weekend while in Vero Beach visiting my sister. We had a great sushi night out! The rolls are creative and not just the same old standards, and everything was well prepared. You can tell they put a lot of craft into their rolls as well as their sauces they use on special rolls. The East Coast roll was way too spicy for my sisters, though, and we weren't expecting that. Good thing I like spicy though - I had the roll all to myself!

I love going back to Vero Beach because they have the best sushi places! I took my kids here when I went down there the last time. I had some delicious Mango duck there. My son chose one of the boxes with Sushi and Sashimi. Their sushi is always fresh and delicious, however, the only draw back was that the white fish was seared on the side. The service was very friendly and filled our water often. The prices are pretty much with all the other sushi restaurants in the area. I will definitely go back to Kata again!

Delicious sushi at a reasonable price. $15 for a bento box with tons of sashimi, a tuna roll, nigiri and tempura chicken. I ordered the mexican roll which was also wonderful. Great sushi spot!

The green curry you'd be eating in your dreams is what I got here. If you see my other reviews in the Vero area, we'd been eating at Bangkok for the other years and enjoyed it. Sadly, it appears out of business. That said, the sadness was quickly replaced by finding Kata! Wow! Wish we had tried it sooner. My boyfriend got one of the stir fry things and seemed to love it. He added miso for $1, I the salad with ginger dressing. Oh, if I can only win the Mega Millions tonight or the lottery tomorrow, I'll be racing back down to dine at this place. Ummm, green curry, with chicken!

service was very lacking. i personally know very well what serving and managing an asian restaurant can be like and i wish i could say that they had a good reason but i was very unimpressed especially since there werent many other customers there. id give them less stars just for the bad service but the sushi was great. tom yum was ok but far less flavorful than what i'm used to in gainesville. if i ever go back to this one i'll try to get a different server and hope that that helps make it a better experience.

Best sushi in town, and their prices are great. My sister and I share a birthday, and this is where we go every year! Love kata! If you love sushi and sashimi, this is definitely going to be your sushi joint!

We had a small group for dinner earlier this summer. I love family style dining because you get to try so many different things. For starters we had a tuna roll, (it was big), fried tofu, edamame, and fresh shrimp spring rolls. All were good, in my opinion, although I'm not a fan of tofu so ask a vegetarian what they think. As usual, we had an order of Pad Thai. I thought the noodles were too thin and the dish a little too sweet. The other two entrees were Ginger beef and Pork cashew. Both were good, but the fried veggies (thanks to my vegetarian amigo) were excellent. A salty sauce served alongside further decreased the heathy benefits of the vegetables, and increased the flavor.

Excellent sushi, very fresh and everything was reasonably priced. Well worth 8.2mi out of your way from I-95. The restaurant itself is not very upscale but they've got a huge range of pan-Asian dishes. Our server and the rest of the staff was professional and friendly. I don't live in the area but I will be back!

My favorite sushi spot in Vero, a town that apparently eats a lot of sushi. Staff is friendly and remembers the regulars. Sushi always appears and tastes very fresh. Menu can be diverse, though I've typically stuck with sushi and sashimi. Great food, though the parking can be a pain.

This was my first stop in Vero Beach. The reviews seemed promising and I wanted a California roll, so it was an easy choice. Kata is one of those places that has taken a dreary location and made it quite nice... though the interior decorations are simple, they work well and the ambiance is very relaxing, with quiet music in the background and soft lighting. I went at 5PM, and there were only a few other customers. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. I started off with a bowl of miso soup, which was better than most that I've had, and came out steaming hot. I also ordered some edamame along with it... not much has to be said about that, since it's pretty much the same at most places. My California roll arrived and I dug in. Now, I'm not much of a complainer unless something is VERY wrong, so I debated even mentioning the single issue that I had.... that issue was the sesame seeds on the roll. They're toasted, which is fine, but the ones on my roll seemed burnt as a burned flavor was ALL I could taste when I had fully chewed the roll up. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a dealbreaker, but it was surprising and a little off-putting. The initial flavors were very good, the flavors mixing were very good while chewing, but the finish tasted like eating a mouthful of ashes. I mentioned this to my waitress as I was leaving, and though I didn't stay to watch it appeared that she went straight to the kitchen, possibly to notify the chef. Overall, Kata is a nice little place with friendly staff and (aside from the seeds) very good food. I'd recommend a stop, but if you don't like burned tastes you might want to have them leave the seeds off your roll.

I'm giving one star for the mere fact that they don't sell gift certificates over the phone. I've never eaten here but I wanted to send my mother a GC for her to try it out. I was told I would need to come in to purchase. I live in San Francisco so it's not possible. It's a shame because they lose business and I will send my mother to another Vero Beach Sushi restaurant instead. Not a great way to run a business.

I stayed in vero beach for 5 days and dined at kata 3 times. I couldn't get enough. Great sushi with big portions. Service and ambience were also great. I am looking forward to returning on my next trip. Check this place out!!!

Very good quality, tasty cuisine. Service was good, initially our drinks took a while to be brought out, but definitely a friendly waitstaff. Prices are on point with most downtown Vero Beach restaurants. Warning: I don't eat most seafood, so don't look to me for advice on most sushi. I had the Pho (listed as an appetizer, but this was entree-sized), Edamame, and Hot Saki. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Comparatively, it's a step up from Sushi Naiya (PSL) in every category except general ambiance. If you've been to Sushi Naiya, you'll know exactly what I'm referring to. I'll definitely return soon.

Presentation of the sushi, sashimi plate and rolls was very artsy. Food was fresh and service was a bit off. Not bad but a bit slow for a place with only a few other customers. Atmosphere was nice but I felt the ace needs a touch up. Bathroom was dirty enough that if I had used it before dinner I probably would not have stayed.

  • Vania L.

Went here for the first time tonight. Food was good for the value. The rolls were so huge I had to bite them in half in order to chew and swallow which made the entire experience a bit messy and ugh. The menu is overwhelming at 5+ pages (legal size). The service left much to be desired and they weren't very busy. I would probably visit other places in the area before returning.

Service was very good in the bar, as well as in the dining room. Sushi chef Haung creates one heck if a yummy roll. Sushi was fresh, sake was cold. Perfect combo! Yep, I am a fan and suggest you try it out.

We went there for Thai food with some friends that liked this place. The Spring Rolls were okay. My wife ordered Chicken Tempura and expected it and the vegetables to be encrusted in a light batter but it was breaded and heavy. My Volcano Chicken also had the same breading. Over all not a bad place but there are better.

Wow this place is great. I've been 3 times and each time I try something different and its surprises me how good it is. They have all types of Asian food and each is great. The restaurant is set up nice, nothing fancy. The service is always good. We have tried the sushi, vietnamese cuisine and thai. All of been excellent. They have the best ginger salad dressing I have ever had!

When I get sick, I crave Tom Kha Kai. I've tried it from a couple different places in the area, but I enjoyed Kata's the most. We also ordered the fried and the pad thai, both of which were great. Boyfriend ordered the crispy spring rolls and he enjoyed them as well.

  • Crystal L.

Came here when they were about to closed. There was a rush but it was all understandable. We came for the Thai food, and it was surprisingly pretty good. The price was reasonable as well. The Massaman curry was not as flavorful as what I'm used to, but the Pad Thai, and Basil duck was alright. Tempura ice cream has quite a bit of batter but not bad. Will be back soon! Oh, and very friendly staffs.

I meant to review this place when I took the picture but never did. I stopped here with my family while visiting my brother. It's a nicely decorated small and cozy with a good blend of of thai, japanese, korean food. I had the pho, my brother had the bun my mom had the curry chicken and everyone left with full bellies and a smile. Definite stop and a pleasant surprise if you're in the Vero beach area.

  • Gerald F.

The menu is quite varied with a number if vegetarian and vegan options. The lunch special includes a small salad, spring roll, and a variety of entrees for 8.95. A decent value and the fact that the food is well prepared and tasty makes this a nice place to visit. I had the Pad Thai, without egg, and enjoyed the presentation enough that I plan to go back regularly to sample other menu offerings.
